Understanding How the New Concur Travel Displays Airfare Prices

If you check airline websites and compare prices with Concur Travel, it may initially look like the airfare prices in Concur are significantly more expensive than on the airline websites — especially for Southwest Airlines. But if you dive a little deeper, you’ll see that total trip prices are comparable. That’s because of differences in how Concur and the Southwest Airlines website function and show flight prices.

The Southwest Airlines website displays the depart and return segment prices separately. So initially, you only see the price of the departing flight. You must then select the return flight to see the total ticket price. By contrast, Concur Travel initially displays an estimated total ticket price based on the departing flight cost.

Below are screenshots of an example flight selection on the Southwest Airlines website compared to Concur Travel. For this example, we are booking a roundtrip flight from Kansas City to Washington, DC, from November 3 – 6. Note, the total roundtrip price in Concur is less than the total roundtrip price found on the Southwest Airlines website ($284.77 vs. $314.97).
